Reducing emissions from all high carbon emitting industries is fundamental if the UK is to meet net zero targets. The oil and gas sector must reduce its emissions by at least 3.4 gigatons of carbon-dioxide equivalent (GtCO2e) a year by 2050. This is a 90 percent reduction in current emissions that future and emerging technologies will help achieve.

We’re investing in emissions reduction technologies that enable:

• Platform electrification from the shore and offshore wind
• Methane leak detection
• Eliminate major incidents and reduce the amount of fugitive emissions
• Mitigation of venting/flaring
• Reduction of field development, logistics and decommissioning carbon footprints
