NZTTP – OLTER – Offshore Low Touch Energy Robotics & Autonomous Systems
Project Summary
OLTER (Offshore Low Touch Energy RAS) proposes to act as the one entity accountable for Offshore Industrial RAS (Robots and Autonomous System), creating a single Centre where industry, supply chain, academia, developers and other sectors can connect to maximise the potential of digital for the UKCS.
OUTCOMES
– Consolidate RAS data and knowledge in UK.
– Showcase how digitalised offshore energy assets use robotic systems to reduce human exposure and emissions. Increase productivity, resilience and improve next generation net zero design.
Project milestone delivered:
Skyports Drone Services has successfully completed an offshore BVLOS campaign at Predannack Airfield in Cornwall to demonstrate the art of possible.
The demonstration ticked some big boxes:
- Over 1,200km BVLOS flown across five days
- Quick flight turnaroud in < 90 seconds
- Up to 7 hours continuous daily operations in both day and night
- Simulated helideck & turbine basket deliveries
- All missions demonstrating sustained flight on Satcom
- Uninvolved persons trained to receive and dispatch the remotely operated drones
Further demonstrators are planned to showcase the capability of drones to fly shore to offshore as well as asset to asset and vessel to vessel – proving reliable, on-demand standardised autonomous systems can reduce offshore emissions.
